ouch - that is a rough stretch. healing vibes to your family members who are suffering!!

tough to lose a cat after that long. 17 years is a darn fine life. i have only had a couple who have made it that long - and even though it has been many years since those two passed on to the happy-hunting-grounds, i still think of them and miss them.

i had to have my last one put to rest after only a year and a half of life. he got very ill and just didnt deserve to suffer any longer. looking forward to a, hopefully soon, new feline addition to my family.

Thank you for the kind thoughts. She was my companion, 24/7, ever since my busy wife found her and brought her home for me. She was my first-ever cat, as I had always been a dog person. But I'm definitely a convert now. All I ever watch on YouTube is cat videos. :)

I am amongst cat lovers! SWEET!! I do believe I am the "Universal Cat Mom". ALL cats love me. If I wasn't married to a "one cat at a time" kinda guy, I'd surely be that old lady with 27 cats.

Charles is only 13, so I hope he has a few more years in him. He's had an exceptional life. He is the cat that almost wasn't. I saved him from being eaten by his birth mother the day he was born. She ate all the others. (oh man... I can hear each of you go EWWWWWWWWW!!!!). She ran away later that day. I bottle fed him from day one, so to him, I am his mother.

Love that pic...looks a lot like the one we lost awhile back.

I'm determined to get another kitty as soon as the family members' health issues settle down a bit, that way I can give the new furry kiddo my full attention.

LOVE the pic, and kudos to you for saving the poor little creature. he seems adorable all curled up like that :)

i am a true cat-lover and, like you, seem to be a magnet for them - they must sense how i feel about them. first time in a long time I have not "owned" one - i have to fix that soon. my wife though is allergic (though she has had them before and relatively recently) - gotta look into those russian hypoallergenic breeds (their name escapes me at the moment) - they look adorable and will hopefully be a good match for this household.

thanks for sharing the story and pic!

peace

I just grabbed my camera and took it... and he's still in that position at the moment, semi-snoring.

You certainly are amongst Cat-Lovers! Got my first cat, Coco, about 12 months ago and absolutely love her! Cats are so loving, and so cute!

The Cat rescue centre we adopted her from estimates her age to be about 9 or 10, she just loves curling up on the bed, and, strangely has a knack for telling the time. As, about 5 minutes before our alarm goes off she comes in to wake us up.

Charles is like that, too! Yep, promptly at 4am on Saturday and Sunday, he wakes us up. Not during the week, mind you, and not even close to when the alarm goes off... just on the days we would normally get to sleep in.

Since I've been home, he's gotten used to his play time at 7am. It lasts for about 45 minutes... he chases me, I chase him, he plays with his new toy (which is actually a pom-pom on a long string from a pair of slippers I have) I toss it up in the air and he jumps to get it. Pretty good for a 13 year old cat! Then he goes over to the sofa and passes out for the day.

And now he's purring... he's across the room and I can hear him. It's play time!
